Dream bike

This photo has been making the rounds of the Portland bike blogs, but if you haven’t seen it, here it is. This bicycle is called a moederfiets (“mother’s-bike”) and is, of course, Dutch.

I’ve been dreaming about having a custom bicycle built someday. If we ever do it, we’ll probably go to Sacha White at Portland’s Vanilla Cycles, and it’ll probably look something like this one. I can only imagine what Sacha would do with that chaincase. I’m thinking custom fittings for the (also probably custom) child seats, so that once the kids are too big to ride in the seats, a platform cargo rack could be attached — sort of like an Xtracycle.
